In an effort to take part in reducing the federal deficit, the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) is making changes in its direct communications with farmers.? Indiana State Executive Director Julia Wickard says FSA is moving towards electronic mail to communicate FSA programs.? She says FSA will no longer be mailing newsletters or farm acreage maps to reduce postage expenses and farmers will need to pick maps up at the county office or receive them electronically.?
FSA is working to collect email addresses of farmers to provide email notifications for deadlines, reminders and newsletters.
